Alternative band rocks the gothic

On November 9th, the band New Politics rocked the Gothic Theatre in Englewood Colorado. Their alternative rock sound and electric personalities gave the audience a night to remember.

Opening with their song Tonight You’re Perfect off of their album A Bad Girl In Harlem and closing with one of their singles, Harlem, they never missed a beat. Although there were technical difficulties such as a blown fuse and some broken speakers, lead singer, David Boyd, made the best of it by break dancing while guitarist, Soren Hansen, and drummer, Louis Vecchio, kept the crowd going.

The stage was decorated with the band’s logo lit up in the back, as well as a light show to fit each song. It was all tied together by the passion displayed on each of the band member’s faces.

The crowd was warmed up by opening acts Somekindawonderful and Bad Suns, who have the same alternative sound as New Politics. Both bands got the crowd jumping and their hearts racing.

Ever since 2009 when the band was formed in Copenhagen, Denmark, they have been busy releasing their own albums (A Bad Girl in Harlem, and self titled album, New Politics) as well as touring with Fall Out Boy and Paramore and most recently headlining their own tour.

Fans left the theatre that night as energized as ever, especially the people that waited around after to meet the band. The packed house and endless smiled would tell you that these performers are destined for greatness.
